Buddycloud is an open platform for permission based location resolution and sharing.

Buddycloud enables you to bookmark places around town that matter to you. Like "Home" or "Black Bean Coffee". Every time you are nearby one of these, an update is pushed to your friends on Facebook and in the Buddycloud mobile client.

Buddycloud let's you then find other interesting people and places that are nearby.

Buddycloud is built on an open platform and interoperates with other chat networks like Google Talk.

In the coming weeks buddycloud will let you browse for group chats in the area or create your own location-based group chat.

Buddycloud currently runs on S60 Phones (Nokia and Samsung). Clients for the iPhone, Blackberry and Java phones are in active development.

Buddycloud will be at Barcamp Munich this weekend

If you are interested in mobile location, mobile development or want to chat about mobile social networks, I'll be at at Barcamp this weekend in Munich. If you have trouble finding me there I'm on +49 17 9545 0880. Ping me and we can meet.

Now with added Facebook goodness.

We like Facebook. It helps us feel connected which is why we have added the ability to share parts of your place feed into your news feed. Here's an example from yesterday. Helge and myself had some networking drinks at the Oktoberfest (Some of you have the impression that we only drink beer but really, this is not the case).

Setting this up is easy - just add the Buddycloud Application to your Facebook account and your friends will now be updated.

Now back to drinking beer.

Buddycloud Screenshots

It's asking a lot of you to go through the hassle of installing and trying out a new application on your phone. Here are some screenshot to help you better understand what Buddycloud does.

Friends screen

This is the "main" screen on Buddycloud. From here it's possible to jump to individual or group chats, update your status message or set your "next-location".
